How To Split / Cut MPEG2 File?

1. Click the button to open a file for splitting. You can also use the Open Media File command in the File menu.



2. Select the required file.

3. Select the checkbox to prevent the immediate file indexing.

Note: The file indexing ensures that the splitting process will be performed accurate within the frame. The splitted fragment will start with exactly that frame on which the beginning marker was placed. And the last frame of the splitted fragment will be the frame on which the ending marker was placed.

4. Click the button to open the selected file.

If the Don't index now checkbox is deselected, the following window shows.


If the selected file already has MPEG2 index, the following window shows. To use the existing MPEG2 index file press Yes. To reindex the MPEG2 file press the No button.


5. Find the beginning of the first part of your movie using Video slider.

6. Click the Add marker button. You can also add the marker selecting the Set New Marker command of the contextual menu or using the the [M] key. Then add the marker at the end of the fragment.

7. Click your left mouse button on the fragment of the movie to be splitted. The selected fragment will be marked with orange colour. Then click your right mouse button to show a contextual menu.

8. Select the Save Selected Fragment As... command in the contextual menu.



9. Enter the new file name in the appeared Save current fragment as... window.

10. Select the checkbox if you want to add the task to batch queue.

11. Click the Save button. You will see the current progress of splitting.

The new saved file wil be a part of your initial MPEG2 file. To split your MPEG2 file into several parts you should repeat the actions from step 5 to step 8 for each fragment.
