How to Share Pictures, Text and Video in Flock?

Flock lets you share text, links, photos and even entire videos with your friends and co-workers with unprecedented ease and quickness.
This month's most popular software guide you should know - How to move photos from my iPhone to my computer

With its built-in photo uploader, one-click Web Clipboard, and floating Magic Bar, Flock lets you share text, links, photos and even entire videos with your friends and co-workers with unprecedented ease and quickness.

Email Links with One Click

1. When you're visiting a web page you'd like to share, click the Email Link button at the far right of the Location Bar.

Email Link

2. Flock will automatically open your default email program and insert the link into a message.

Set Up Your Online Photo Account in Flock

1. Open Flock, and log in to your online photo account.

2. If you don't have an online photo account, but would like to create one, we recommend these popular, Flock-supported services:

- Flickr: Flickr is a photo sharing website and web services suite, and an online community platform. It was one of the earliest Web 2.0 applications.

- Piczo: In this photo website builder and community, users can add items such as images, text content, videos, glitters, shout-outs, and profile pages.

- Photobucket: Photobucket is an image hosting, video hosting, slideshow creation and photo sharing website.

3. If you've logged in to a service that Flock supports, like Facebook or Flickr for example, the People Sidebar will open automatically. You may also be prompted with a Discovery Bar to confirm that you want Flock to remember this account.

Discovery Bar

4. Click Remember Account if you want Flock to retain your account information for automatic access the next time you open Flock. (Note: This is different than telling Flock to remember just your password, because this includes remembering your contacts, etc.) Depending on how you've logged in, even if you aren't prompted, Flock will likely still remember your account information, unless you click Forget Account in the Accounts and Services Sidebar.

5. Your Facebook or Flickr Profile Card will appear in the People Sidebar, along with the Profile Cards for your contacts.

Profile Card

6. Click the Accounts and Services Sidebar key icon, or choose View > Sidebar > Accounts and Services from the menu to confirm that your account information has been saved in the My Accounts section.

Accounts and Services

7. The green circle indicates that you are logged in to the account. You're now ready to upload pictures!

8. Click Log Out if you wish to log out from the account.

9. Click Forget Account if you wish to delete all record of the account from Flock.

Edit and Upload Photos

1. Open Flock's Photo Uploader by clicking the up-arrow icon in the Flock Toolbar, selecting Tools > Photo Uploader from the menu, or in Windows pressing CTRL+SHIFT+U.

2. In the Photo Uploader, click the Choose Photos button or select File > Choose Photos from the menu.

3. Navigate to the folder on your computer where you keep your photos.

4. Click on one or more folders or photos to select them, and click Open.

Tip: You can also add photos to the uploader by simply dragging the photos from a folder on your computer into the grey Uploading Clipboard area.

5. Select any picture in the Uploading Clipboard and it will appear in the Photo Editor.

Photo Editor

6. Photos waiting to be uploaded If you'd like to cut part of the picture out, drag your mouse across the picture in the Photo Editor and then click Crop.

7. If you'd like to rotate the picture, click the Rotate arrows.

8. If you'd like to remove any edits you've made, click Revert.

9. If you decide you don't want to upload the picture, select it in the Uploading Clipboard and click the Remove button on the Photo Uploader Toolbar.

10. After finishing your edits, type a title, description, and any tags you want to apply to the photo. If multiple photos are selected, the text you type is applied to all of the selected photos, or you can click the Batch tab and type text to apply to the entire group of photos you're uploading.

11. Choose the Privacy levels you wish to apply.

12. When you're done preparing all of your photos, click the arrow next to the Upload button to select the account from the drop-down menu to which you want to upload.

Upload button

13. Click Upload.

14. Uploading Photos In the Upload Options dialog, select any other preferred settings like photo resizing and album name, and click Upload again.

15. Depending on the number and size of photos, your computer's speed, your internet connection, and the particular website, uploading could take anywhere from seconds to minutes.

16. When complete, Flock will give you the option of viewing your newly-uploaded photos in the Media Bar.

Drag and Drop Share

1. Click on the camera icon on the Flock Toolbar to open the Media Bar, or select View > Minibar > Media Bar from the menu, and find the images you want to share.

2. Click on any thumbnail you see in the Media Bar and drag it.

3. Drop the thumbnail into a web-based email like Yahoo mail.

4. Drop the thumbnail onto a friend's Facebook Profile Card in the People Sidebar, and the image will be automatically pasted into a Facebook message addressed to this friend, along with a link. If it's a video, just the link and thumbnail, not the entire video, will be pasted.

Facebook Profile Card

5. Drop the thumbnail just about anywhere: into a web-based email like Yahoo mail, a comment forum, a Flickr message, etc. If it's a Flock-supported service, there's a good chance the image itself will be automatically pasted in. Otherwise, Flock may paste in only the link to the image. In other cases, Flock may paste the HTML code for that part of the web page or, unfortunately, paste nothing at all. We're working on it!

6. Drop the thumbnail (or source image) into the Web Clipboard for easy saving and sharing later with your contacts through emails, blogs, forums etc (see below).

Use the Web Clipboard for Instant Saving and Sharing

1. Open the Web Clipboard Sidebar by clicking the clipboard icon on the Flock Toolbar, selecting View > Sidebar > Web Clipboard or Tools > Web Clipboard from the menus, or in Windows pressing CTRL+SHIFT+C.

Drag and Drop Web Clipboard

2. As you're surfing the web, select, drag and drop portions of any text you like into the Web Clipboard.

Flock Web Clipboard

3. Click on any picture you like and drap and drop it into the Web Clipboard.

Web Clipboard

4. Click on any picture or video you like in the Media Bar or on a Flock-supported video service, and drag it into the Web Clipboard.

Tip: You can also drag and drop images directly from the Media Bar or web onto a friend's Profile Card in the People Sidebar, and the image will be pasted into a message to that person.

5. To save a clipping without opening the Web Clipboard Sidebar, right-click on the text or picture you want to save and select Send to Web Clipboard from the drop-down menu.

6. In the Web Clipboard Sidebar, each saved item will have its own frame and description. Click View to view what you've saved.

7. Click Delete to remove any clipping you've saved.

8. Click Blog to insert the clipping into your blog posting.

Note: Text and pictures will appear "as is" in your blog post. A video will be pasted into the blog editor as a link.

9. Drag and drop any clipping from the Web Clipboard into a web-based email like Yahoo Mail or Hotmail, into forums, or into messages on websites like Facebook or Piczo.

Important Note: If Flock runs into problems trying to drop clippings into certain programs or services, particularly those not supported by Flock, you may see a link or the full HTML code being pasted instead.

10. Click the folder icon at the top right of the Web Clipboard Sidebar to create folders for better organizing of your clippings, then drag and drop clippings into the folders.

11. Click the Delete All button to remove all your clippings at once.

Use the Magic Bar for Sharing Pictures or Videos

1. Rest your cursor over any full source picture or video that you are viewing on the web.

2. If the source picture or video is located on a Flock-supported service, the Flock Magic Bar will appear floating over the top of the picture or video.

Flock Magic Bar

3. Click Blog This to insert the picture or a link to the video into a new blog post.

4. Click Email This to insert a link to the picture or video into your email program.
