How to set up message rules for Outlook 2003 in Spam Monitor?

Download, install and run Spam Monitor.

1. Start Outlook and click Tools on the menu at the top then Rules and Alerts

2. Choose the E-Mail Rules tab and click the 'New Rule' button. The "Start creating a rule from a template" option at the top should be selected.

3. In this case, you want the filter to use a specific word **SPAM** in the subject. So in the first pane, select "with specific words in the subject".



4. Now in the second pane, click "specific words." In the Search Text dialog box that appears, type **SPAM** (including the astericks) in the "Specify words or phrases to search for in the subject" field. Press Enter twice, or click Add and then OK. Back in the Rules Wizard, click Next and check "move it to the specified folder."

5. In the second pane ("Step 2: Edit the rule description"), click the word "specified." Outlook will display a list of folders. Pick the folder you want the e-mail to go to (Spam).

6. Click Next to skip the Rules Wizard's "Are there any exceptions?" page. "**SPAM**" should be in the "Step 1: Specific a name for this rule" field. Press Enter twice or click Finish and OK

Why are all emails detected as spam?
    The Bayesian Filter threshold may need to be lowered. Please complete the steps outlined below.

    1. Click on the Spam Monitor icon in the system tray next to the clock on the taskbar

    2. Click the Spam Detection section on the left to expand the list of options

    3. Click on the Bayesian Filter feature

    4. Change the Spam Detection threshold percentage value of 95 to a lower value (ie: 75) and then click the Apply Change link on the right side
How do I use the black list?
    Using the Black Lists you can specify email addresses or IP addresses that you don't trust so that Spam Monitor will mark them as SPAM.

    Open Spam Monitor, select Spam Detecion and Black Lists. Then add in the email addresses you would like treated as Spam. Then click Apply Change.
What email clients are supported?
    Spam Monitor support all popular email programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Mail, Mozilla Mail, Eudora or Opera.

    If your email clients are not supported by the Configuration Wizard, you still can use Spam Monitor to filter spam messages provided your email clients are using either the POP3 or IMAP4 messaging protocols.

    In order to connect to your IMAP4/POP3 mail server, you are required to know the following information.

    Incoming IMAP4*/POP3* Mail Server Name or IP address
    Login User name
    Password

    Please Note: Assuming standard port numbers are used.

    Locate these settings in Incredimail and update them as follows:

    Changing Server Name:
    Record your Mail Server Name
    Replace your Mail Server Name with 127.0.0.1. This will tell your mail clients to ask Spam Monitor to fetch email on your behalf.

    Changing Login User Name:
    Append your Mail Server Name to your Login User Name with a '@' symbol between the Login User Name and Mail Server Name.
