Step 1 - DiskInternals NTFS Recovery v1.22 starts with Welcome window. Click next.

Step 2 - The next wizard window asks you to select a partition or a physical drive for recovery.

The program doesn't change anything in your file system while scanning, so you can safely scan even the system volume. In our case, the scanner runs on a single physical drive with system folders. At this step you can also mount the image of a drive without actually getting it connected, or create a new virtual partition by clicking on Map Virtual Partitions.

Step 3 - The following Scanner Window shows the progress with the number of recovered folders and files. When recovering large volumes, you may want to sit back and enjoy a mug of freshly ground coffee, so it's high time to go and get one.

Step 4 - Before DiskInternals NTFS Recovery moves the recovered files to a safe location, it asks you what to do with the present file system: whether you wish to leave it as it is, with a current cluster size, or pick a new size. It is recommended to proceed with the current value.

Step 5 - These things done, you get all the restorable files in the Explorer-like window. DiskInternals NTFS Recovery supports all the usual refinements of the Explorer, namely the file search, tree and folder view, go-back, go-forward, and file details.

As you can see, the problem of lost data can be easily overcome on NTFS partitions, if the right tool is applied. The easy-to-follow wizard will put all the advantages of NTFS file system under your fingertips. To recover files and folders, highlight them and choose "Recover" from the toolbar or the context menu. In the following dialog window select the destination and check the box to save the directory structure. The evaluation copy allows recovering files up to 64 Kbytes. For larger files you will need to register the program. The registration not only unlocks all the program features, but entitles the user to free life-time support and program updates.
