Opening a document

The program has a simple interface. You can select a document using either the File -> Open Document menu item or the button on the right of the document name editbox. After you select a document, the program will allow you to remove the "open" password and also show you the "write", workbook, shared workbook and worksheet passwords.

After the program resets or recovers any password, the "Open document in Microsoft Excel" link will appear at the bottom of the window. After you click it, the selected document will be opened in Microsoft Excel.

Removing the "open" password

When you open the document protected with "open" password, the Remove button appears in the "Open" password field. The instant removal of "open" passwords is a unique feature that makes the program different from similar software. The maximum time needed to disable this protection type is about 15 seconds and it does not depend on the password length. The key for decrypting the document is searched on our company's powerful server, so to remove an "open" password, you have to be connected to the Internet. Since the entire document is encrypted when an "open" password is set, it is impossible to find out whether passwords of other types are set for the document. Once the "open" password is removed, the passwords of the other types will be automatically removed.

Click the Remove button and you will see the dialog box where the program will ask you to connect to the Internet and to allow it to connect to the developers' site www.rixler.com in the settings of your personal firewall. After you follow these instructions, click OK.

The program will display the "Connection" dialog box where you will see the standard operations the program carries out:
1. Connecting to the Rixler Server
2. Receiving a response from the Server
3. Searching for the decryption key
4. Decrypting the document



If all the steps are successful, the program displays the following message: ?The document has been successfully decrypted! To open the decrypted document in Microsoft Excel, click the ?Open document in Microsoft Excel link.

If you use the unregistered version of Excel Password Recovery Master, the decrypted document will contain only 500 characters and an offer to buy the full version of the program will be added to the end of the document. The name of the decrypted file will consist of the original document name and the word "(DEMO)". The original document will not be modified.

After you register the program, it will allow you to decrypt the entire document. Since this procedure is applied to the original document, it is automatically backed up. The backup copy will be saved to the folder where the original document is stored and it will have the same name with the *.bak extension. Due to the backup operation, the possibility of modifying your original document is ruled out.

Each time you decrypt the entire document, one decryption credit will be subtracted from your registration key. Select Help->Enter registration code to see how many decryption credits you have left. You will see the "Number of decryption credits" label and the number of your credits. If your decryption credits ended, the program will start trimming documents up to 500 characters and ask you to buy a new registration code for complete decryption.

Recovering the "write", workbook, shared workbook and worksheet passwords

If there are "write", workbook, shared workbook or worksheet passwords set for the document, you will see these passwords in the corresponding fields after you open this document.

Setting the Access Password

The access password uses to prevent unauthorized program execution. To open the "Set Access Password" dialog select File -> Set Access Password from the program menu.

To set the access password you have to enter a new password and confirm it by re-entering it in the confirmation field.

It's important to remember that the access password is case-sensitive. It means that the program considers words that have the same letters but in different letter case to be two different words. For example: PASSWORD, password, and PASSword are all three different words.

To remove the current password leave the password entering fields blank and click OK button.

If you have set the access password, the next time you run the program you will be shown the following window:



Just type your current password in the password line and click OK button.

Excel Password Recovery Master

Excel Password Recovery Master is used to get instant access to password-protected documents created in MS Excel 97 / 2000 / XP / 2003 (*.xls, *.xlt and *.xla files). The program allows you to reset "open" passwords, as well as to recover "write", workbook, shared workbook and worksheet passwords.
