How to read text aloud with Speaking Notepad?

Speaking Notepad Speaking Notepad can read the whole text, from the cursor position or only selected one. It can also read clipboard content and record speech into MP3 and WAV sound file.

With the unique Type & Read feature Speaking Notepad can read the text you are typing word-by-word or sentence-by-sentence, so that you are able to control your typing aurally. At any time you like you can pause reading and then resume it. You can also change voice, its speed and pitch.



Speaking Notepad To make Speaking Notepad start reading simply press Read button on Speech toolbar or select Read item in the Reading menu or press F9. It will start reading from the cursor position or selected text (if some text was selected). To pause or stop reading simply do this action again.

Speaking Notepad To make Speaking Notepad start reading from the beginning of the document simply press Read from the beginning button on Speech toolbar or select Read from the beginning item in the Reading menu or press F10.

Speaking Notepad To make Speaking Notepad start reading clipboard content simply press Read clipboard button on Speech toolbar or select Read clipboard item in the Reading menu or press F12. To stop reading select Stop item in the Reading menu or press F9.

Speaking Notepad To turn Type & Read mode on you should simply press Type & Read button on Speech toolbar or select Type & Read item in the Reading menu or press F11. To turn it off you should simply do this action again. Speaking Notepad can read every word or every sentence you type. You can choose this mode in the Reading tab of Preferences dialog.

Type & Read is an unique function that'll help you a lot in text typing. Your are typing long text and constantly bring you look from keyboard to monitor to control what your are typing? You can now concentrate on typing and your thoughts only because Speaking Notepad can read aloud what you are typing and you will be able to control your typing aurally.

Speaking Notepad To turn Type & Read mode on you should simply press Type & Read button on Speech toolbar or sidebar or select Type & Read item in the Reading menu or press F11. To turn it off you should simply do this action again.

You can change voice of the speaker, speed and pitch of the voice. This can be done from Voice toolbar.

Voices: Here you can select one of the voices installed in your system. You can download and install additional voices from the Internet. See Additional voices section for more information.

Voice properties: Here you can set speed and pitch of the selected voice. Please note, that if Speaking Notepad is reading some text when you try to change these settings, changes will take place in several seconds. Speaking Notepad remembers speed and pitch of every voice individually. All changes you make are applied only to the selected voice.

Speaking Notepad can work with the following file formats:
  • Documents
  • TXT - plain text files
  • DOC, RTF - Microsoft Word documents
  • HTML - Web pages
  • HTML Source - Web pages as plain text (with markup)

  • WAV - Wave sound files
  • MP3 - MPEG Layer 3 sound files
