Whenever you use an internet connection in a public or publically accessible place, you put your data at risk. The internet connection may be a free or commercial Wi-Fi hotspot, an Ethernet network jack in your hotel room, or a network drop in the office you're visiting. All data you send can be intercepted easily and quickly by persons unknown, without your knowledge. Your data may be your email usernames and
passwords, your emails,
Instant Messages,
web passwords, and all the web pages you visit.
Using powerful 256-bit AES encryption technology, the
iOpus Private Internet Gateway (iPIG) creates a secure "tunnel" that protects your inbound and outbound communications (Email, Web, IM,
VOIP, calls,
FTP, etc.) at any Wi-Fi hotspot or wired network.
1. Open iPig
2. Enter your
user name and password
3. Click the
ON button and you are done!
iPig intercepts now all Internet traffc and encrypts it securely.
Using iPig Beta V1.0 slows down your Internet surfing a bit compared to an unencrypted direct connection, but we think the security gain is well worth the reduced speed (we also work hard to improve the speed with future updates).
If you do not need to encrypt your traffic at a certain time, you can switch OFF the iPig encryption anytime.
The current version of iPig comes with 5000 MB of free traffic. If you exceed this amount, please contact us and we can increase it a no charge during the beta test. In order to save traffic, you can also decide to encrypt only certain traffic.
For example, maybe you only your email traffic needs protection. Using the Filter setting in iPig, you can tell iPig to encrypt only all email sent/received but not your web browsing.
Note: iPig does not replace your firewall software. So if you log into public networks, we recommend that you have a firewall software installed in addition to using iPig. Our software is designed to be compatible with all firewalls.
