How to Upgrade Your Windows CE to Windows Mobile

Windows CE was released in 1996, it was designed for a mobile phone which run on less memory than a computer. You can upgrade Windows CE to Windows Mobile with the following simple steps.

STEP 1.

Boot your computer and go to your cell phone manufacturer's website. Download the Windows Mobile 5.0 installer from the site. Extract the file to your PC and connect your mobile device to the computer with the data transfer cable that came with it.

STEP 2.

Drag the Windows Mobile 5.0 installer from your computer to your mobile phone's internal memory or storage card. Begin by clicking the Start menu and going to "Computer," then to "Removable Drives." You will see your mobile device listed there. Drag the file onto the icon.

STEP 3.

Go to your phone's browser and look for Windows Mobile 5.0 installer, and open it by using the "Add Program" feature of Windows CE.

STEP 4.

Install the firmware for Windows Mobile 5.0. It will ask for some information from your phone, including your security code and other personal pass codes. Enter these and select "Continue," and enter your personal preferences and information for your Windows phone.

STEP 5.

Wait for the Windows CE to Windows Mobile installation finish. Do not turn off the phone at any time during the installation process to avoid the phone bricking (freezing up and crashing). Once the installation has completed, your phone will restart.
