What an annoying thing there's no sound in Ubuntu 10.10 after a clean installation on your laptop such as Acer Aspire! This is the fixing tutorial.

Ubuntu 10.10 No Sound Issue on Acer Laptops:

After a clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 Maveick, an Acer Aspire laptop user said, the computer was running well on 10.04, there was suddenly no sound.

Ubuntu 10.10 No Sound Fix: It's very bad for a computer with no sound running the new Ubuntu 10.10 (Thinkpoint on Ubuntu 10.10). No one can afford playing a game or a movie no sound. Run the following command to check if your sound card is detected or not:

  • lspci -v | less

It may give you information like this if using Intel Audio Card:

Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I HD Audio Controller. This means you need to try the new audio card drivers for Ubuntu 10.10.
