How to Crop an Image on IrfanView?

Here is going to show you how to crop an image on IrfanView, which is a great free photo editor. "Cropping" is used to select a part of the image that you want to use. By drawing around the area you want to keep, the Crop command eliminates what is outside the box you have drawn.

Step1: Install and Launch this Free Photo Editor.

The installation is easy and starightforward, just by following the navigation, you could easily finish that(If you don't have the setup file, click here to download the setup file.. After installation, luanch this program, see the GUI of PhotoFiltre as follows:

Step2: Open Your Picture.

Select File > Open and open your TIFF or GIF file..

Step3: Drag a Box on the Image.

Click-and-hold the left mouse button and then drag the mouse to outline the area you want to crop. As you drag the mouse, you will see the new image's pixel size displayed in the IrfanView title bar (blue bar at the top). Release the mouse button when you have the size of image you want.

Step4: Crop Selection.

Select Edit > Crop Selection. The area outside the outline will be thrown away, only the inside will be left. (Select Edit > Undo to reverse this action if it isn't exactly what you want and then try again.)



And then, select File > Save As, rename your file and save it. If you rename the file, your original will not be changed. NOTE for GIF files: Next you will see the "Choose transparent color" dialog box. Press the Esc key to ignore this option.
