How to create, change, and download skins for iTunes with iTunes Skin Master?
Skin Master's First Run
To run iTunes Skin Master, just double-click its icon. When launched for the first time, Setup Assistant lets you configure Skin Master in few easy steps. Setup Assistant describes every step and lets you choose what to do. When you are done, click Continue button to proceed to the next step. The default settings of the assistant may cause that you will not need to change anything just to press Continue button to the end of the setup. Basically there are only three things you have to do:
1. Locate iTunes 2 on your disk and make a backup copy. By default, Skin Master performs this task automatically.
2. Locate Skins folder and Downloads folder. By default, Skin Master do this automatically and creates folders named 'Skins' and 'Downloads' within Skin Master's application folder.
3. Configure your network. If needed, you should do this manually.
Configuration of iTunes Skin Master can be changed at any time in Preferences window.
Open Skin
When Skin Master starts up, try to open a skin file. There are several ways to do this:
1. Use Open item of File menu to open a skin file via standard open file dialog box.
2. Use Quick Open item of File menu to open skin from within your Skins folder. There should already be 5 skins that come with Skin Master.
3. Double-click a skin file in the Finder.
A good skin to start is iTunes (Original) which contains pictures from original iTunes. Skin is opened in Skin Editor. Explore the Editor and the pictures to find out the meaning of the pictures and how they are grouped.
Save the Skin
To save the skin you have created/modified in Skin Editor, just select Save item of File menu. To save skin under new name, use Save As item of File menu. You can also use Quick Save item of File menu to save skin inside your Skins folder without displaying a standard save file dialog box.
Change the Skin
When you have opened a skin, you may apply it on iTunes. Just select Skin! item of Action menu. The skin is applied. When iTunes is running, Skin Master quits iTunes first. After the skin is patched, Skin Master launches iTunes back again.
There are more ways how to apply skin. You can use Quick Skin item of Action menu, Skin button of Skin Editor, or you can use Skin Changer.
Download Skins
Open Skin Downloader and press Refresh button at the bottom. Skin Master connects to the Ancodia web site and retrieves list of available skins. After the skin list is refreshed, select one or more skins you want to download and press Download button. Downloaded skins are located in Downloads folder.
Launching and Quitting iTunes within Skin Master
There are two menu items within Action menu that lets you launch and Quit iTunes without leaving iTunes Skin Master. You can also use Launch Pad window to do so.
Tell the World about your Skins
To share your original skins, use Post Skin window. This allows you to send all necessary information easily.
