THE DECEIVER

Sally was looking through the CD collection while Travis punched in a video game. “This is a new one, Zach. Where did you get it?” Travis’ fingers played over the keyboard. “What’s Windfallow, anyway?”
Sally dropped a CD and Zach reached the computer in two strides. He watched in disbelief as Sparrow’s face swam into view. Just behind him King Robin sat on horseback with a family of tigers weaving in and out around the horse’s legs. A legend over the top of the picture proclaimed THE CURSE OF WINDFALLOW.
“Where’d you get this, Zach? Have you played it yet?”
Zach put his hands on Travis’ shoulders. “Trav, I didn’t buy that game. I never saw it before tonight.”
“Jake probably got it at Videoland.” Travis kept playing the keyboard trying to get a game going.
Sally looked at Zach. “What’s happening? Why is that on the computer?”
“I don’t know Sally. How could anyone have gotten that name and those pictures? Move, Trav.” Zach moved Travis over and sat down at the computer. He started to tap in a name then jerked his hands back from the keyboard. “It’s got to be a trap, Sal. We can’t let this thing go on.” He hit the switch that should have shut down the computer, but nothing happened. He had to unplug the system before the screen went blank.
“What’s goin on, Zach? Where’d that game come from? And how do you know about it, Sal?” Travis looked back and forth between his two friends. Melissa was as mystified as Travis. Sally looked helplessly at Zach.
