Horsepower Lab 2D

To properly evaluate fluxes through local flow restriction ("connector" module), one must prescribe its gasdynamic properties by providing merely a pressure loss coefficient. For the determination of this value (or the corresponding total pressure recovery factor) a special numerical technique can be applied. It is implemented in hpl2d package, with the objective to make it possible to account for notable compressibility effects -- for flows at high Mach numbers -- by CFD simulation in 2D with (well, to some extent) realistic geometry.

hpl2d package is capable to obtain steady-state solutions to problems governed by 2D conservation laws, for planar and axisymmetrical symmetries. In its future versions, hpl2d will allow simulations of unsteady response of flow splitters, that is a desirable feature. Every utility in hpl2d will be using first- or higher-order conservative finite-volume schemes.
