Everything I Own, by Mycroft Computing is a cool tool for really keeping track of everything you own. If you think about it for a minute this program makes real sense. Think about the things you own, the things you have in your house. Your computer, your printer, your TV, your stereo, your toaster. What's the serial number of your printer? Bet you don't know and that you can't find out without doing contortions and looking at the manufacturers Web site. Everything I Own makes it easy to put all the really important information about all your stuff in one spot. Take the printer. You can list the name, the serial number, the brand, the date you bought it, what room it's located in, and so on.
In testing out the program I entered all the key things in my office in about ten minutes. The program is really easy-to-use and intuitive, perfect for users with all levels of experience. Oh, and if you want you can also include pictures of your items as part of the individual record.
So, for example, you can include a picture of your computer sitting in your office in with the basic information. Slick. Everything I Own has a backup and restore function so you can backup your valuable data and put in on a CD or DVD for safe keeping.
In addition, you can print out your entire database or just one or two records. This is the perfect program for creating and maintaining a complete home inventory. In the event of fire or theft, Everything I Own might be a real benefit when dealing with insurance companies. So, if you'd really like to get going on a home inventory, Everything I Own is your solution. Give it a try.
