Strength:
ChildCentre looks very simple and it is easy to use. This program is designed for busy parents who cannot supervise their children playing computer—if parents are not beside children when they are playing computers, the time is not easy to control. So this program does help parents a lot in this way. There are some fun designs in this tool, please see Benefits.
Weakness:
The Help File needs renovating since it is not a very detailed one; if a user wants to know more about the program, a detailed Help File matters.
Benefits
As I mentioned above, ChildCentre is a special program designed for worrying parents who cannot control their children on playing games. It is very easy for users to operate since the interface is simple. There are fun designs—from its toolbar, we can see “Gymnastics”—I was confused at first, so I clicked it. Do you know what happened? A different interface showed up—“Do Eye Gymnastics with me!” order me to follow. It’s indeed a considerate program for children—when they play games overtime, their eyes will be tired; this tool teaches them to do eye gymnastics! It’s not very common to see a program like that, and it does think as parents do. So it’s worth recommending for particular users to control their children as well as themselves.
If you do not want to shut down your PC, there is another choice—break. It’s very familiar, isn’t it (When we have our lessons, our teachers always say “Have a break!”)? This function is alike our teachers’ words and the screen saver will start up; we can have a break then.
Setup
ChildCentre is a lightweight tool because it’s only 505KB. So the installation as well as the download takes effortlessly to wait. It is adware free, so is spyware or malware; which is a 100% clean program that you can install it with ease.
Should you decide to remove this tool, there is a shortcut offered for uninstall. At last step of uninstall, there is an inquiry asking if you decide to delete the folder—if you want to reinstall ChildCentre, it’ still useful; on the contrast, you can select “delete the folder”.
Interface
The main interface of ChildCentre is clear and concise—there are only four buttons on its toolbar: Start, Break, Gymnastics, and Exit. It’s easy to operate for a newbie, let alone an experienced user.
If there are several recreational programs are running on your system, they will be shown on the left board; then you can set the closed time of each tool. ChildCentre will shut down the set program on time—before closing, there will be some prompts for users to watch out your time.
Break means starting up the screen saver and time isn’t counted when it’s on.
Gymnastics is a useful design for users to relax by doing eye gymnastics.
System Requirements
ChildCentre runs on Windows 2000, XP, NT, even Vista. The size is about 505KB, which is so small that cannot cause crash on system. There is nearly no requirement for RAM.
Conclusion
ChildCentre is very smart for parent to supervise computer-loving children from overtime playing. There are some unique designs for this tool, which add more considerations for an overtime game player, such as eye gymnastics and break. From these functions, ChildCentre protects children far from addiction to game. While it’s all set by force, I think parents should try to persuade children as well. After all, parental education is more important than a cool tool.
