A: East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise can create multiple bootable devices at one time, but not at the same time. The boot devices will be created in one process, but one after the other.
Q: What happens if I insert a bad floppy disk?
A: At the creation stage, every disk is checked before activating its sanitizations. A message will appear informing you that you have inserted a bad disk, and asking you to enter another one.
Q: Why would I want to create a CD Image?
A: In case you wish to perform the actual disc writing at a later time, or in case you don't have a CD/DVD writer attached to your computer for the time being, you may want to create the disc image, and save the ISO file to the hard drive

4. Then, you need to select a location for the image file on your hard disk.
5. In the end, please go to that location where you saved the .ISO file and burn this image on the CD using a software that allows you to write or create bootable CDs.

Q: Please let me know what steps I need to follow after sanitizing my hard drive.
A: After sanitizing your hard drive with East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise, it will be like a new (unpartitioned and unformatted) hard drive. To be able to use your hard drive again, you must create one or more partitions and then format each partition you have created (newer operating systems like Windows XP will do this automatically for you,
when you install them).
You will need to re-install the Windows operating system (with the setup CDs) and any other software you want.
Q: On what operating systems does East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise work?
A: The East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise is compatible with all operating systems.
Q: Can I run East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise on my Macintosh computer? Also, let me know if there is any way it could work on a Sun or HP-UX system?
A: East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise works with any computer where you can boot a DOS operating system from a bootable disk, regardless of the operating system installed on that computer.
So, if your Macintosh and Sun computers meet the condition above (be able to boot from a bootable disk containing DOS), then East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise will also work with them.

Q: Can I run East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise from a bootable CD (on a Mac computer)?
A: East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise can be installed and run from a bootable CD, if your Mac computer can boot from a CD containing a PC operating system. You should create the bootable CD in a Windows environment (either using MS-DOS or RX-DOS as the operating system on the CD) and make sure that you will be able to run one of these operating system on the Mac computer at boot up.
Q: Is there an edition that will work with drives in a SCSI RAID array/SATA/ATA?
A: If your drives can be recognized by the BIOS of the computer where you want to sanitize them, then East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise should also be able to recognize and wipe them.
Q: How can I make my computer boot from a floppy/CD/DVD?
A: In the BIOS of your computer, search for an option that mentions about the "Boot sequence" and make the boot sequence start with "A" (for the floppy drive), or "D" for the CD-ROM drive (you may have another drive letter assigned to the CD-ROM drive). An example of a valid boot sequence is "A, C, CD-ROM". Any boot sequence starting with A (or floppy) or CD-ROM is valid.
Save the changes you have made in the BIOS and restart the computer with the floppy disk/CD/DVD inside. Now the computer should start from the floppy disk/CD/DVD disk (that contains East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise).

Q: How do I locate the BIOS of my computer?
A: To be able to enter the computer BIOS setup before loading the operating system all you need to do is press the DEL key immediately after you turn your computer on (on some computers, there is another shortcut to access the BIOS, just follow the instructions given on your screen).
Q: Do you provide a suitable automated report for the destruction process. (ie certificate of destruction?)
A: East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise provides an option for generating a log (report) file of the sanitizing process. East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise can generate a sanitizing log (report) for each drive that is sanitized. The log will contain information about the drive, the time and date of sanitizing, any errors that occur while sanitizing, etc. Log files are saved in the root directory of floppy disk where East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise is installed (or another disk you choose for saving the log file to), and they can also be sent to a printer.
There is also an option for creating the log file using the Department of Defense style. If this option is selected, the East-Tec DisposeSecure 2007 Enterprise will also log extra information required by U.S. Dep. of Defense standards (such as the name of the person performing the sanitizing). The log file will also contain the exact contents of any sector that could not been sanitized. This helps the user determine if the data that remained on disk is too sensitive to permit the release of the media. |
