New in MagicSports 3

Baseball and Soccer Analysis
MagicSports is able to identify the highlights of baseball and soccer games broadcast on TV by importing recorded sports programs and letting MagicSports locate the best moments of each game. New baseball features include fine-tuning the analysis process by using the scoreboard display from the recorded program. MagicSports allows users to calibrate the area of analysis around the scoreboard.

Baseball Highlights “Star Rating”

By classifying according to the level of excitement with a stars rating system, users can quickly reference their highlights. 3-stars is given for the most thrilling highlights of a game.

Improved in MagicSports 3

Easy Onscreen Controls
MagicSports puts complete control in the hands of the user: either via remote control or a mouse and keyboard. With support for 3D graphics display cards, the transparent thumbnail menu allows easy navigation between highlights. An additional control bar provides access to navigation features such as play, pause, forward, and skip. The NEW Next Pitch buttons allow quick viewing of each pitch for baseball games.

A single button on the remote control activates the onscreen controls, eliminating the need to navigate through the software’s menu system. Main Features

Create Your Own Highlights Video

With the Make Sports Video function, users can output a video containing highlights of their favorite game. MagicSports lets users output a file of their game highlights as MPEG-2 or unprotected DVR-MS files. This allows users to create summaries of their game’s “classic moments” to share with others.

MagicSports gives users a choice of a recommended length for their sports video, 7 pre-defined lengths, or the option to customize. Each predefined length adds more highlights and extends the length of content from a game. Through customization, users may add or remove scenes from MagicSports’ recommended game summary. Up and down buttons on the remote control (or using a mouse and keyboard) lets users quickly include or exclude scenes from their sports video. This function can be performed even while the video is playing.

Before outputting the file, MagicSports adds an opening title while users can type their own file name using the onscreen keyboard. Select Scene function lets users add and remove scenes from their output video.

Compatibility with PowerCinema and Media Center Edition (MCE)
As the two leading TV-on-the-PC applications, PowerCinema and MCE enable users to record TV programs and store them on their hard drives. MagicSports expands users’ TV functionality, providing exciting features for watching highlights of soccer and baseball games by simply importing their recorded content for MagicSports to analyze. PowerCinema and MCE support background analysis of recorded TV content, allowing even faster identification of game highlights. MagicSports searches the Recorded TV folder on a user’s PC, ensuring video analysis occurs without impacting CPU performance. MagicSports can also automatically recognize the type of sport being analyzed based on electronic program guide (EPG) information. MagicSports supports digital rights management, preventing analysis of protected DVRMS content. MagicSports is also Windows Vista ready.

How does MagicSports work?
Intelligent video and audio scene analysis accurately identifies the most exciting moments of recorded sports programs. CyberLink offers 10 years’ experience in developing software for video analysis and playback. MagicSports incorporates MagicScene technology, CyberLink’s intelligent sports analysis algorithm. The algorithm processes video and audio signals to identify and separate highlights from unexciting game moments. MagicScene identifies the highlights of recorded sports programs with an accuracy of 95-98%. Analysis typically takes 15-20% of the video’s duration to complete for soccer games, and 8-10% for baseball games. Thus a 2-hour soccer game can be analyzed within 20 minutes, while a baseball game in 10 minutes. Meanwhile, background analysis processes video files automatically, enabling users to access highlights even more quickly.

MagicSports interprets the following events in defining a game’s highlights:

Baseball

- Pitches
- Strikes
- Walks
- Home runs

Soccer

- Goals and near goals
- Issuing of red and yellow cards
- Rule violations – such as fights
- Accidents and injuries
