AltMP

AltMP stands for Alternative Media Player, a free alternative to media player, with DVD player included AltMP stands for Alternative Media Player, a free alternative to media player, with DVD player included.

  • chapters (MicroDVD format - mdvd.ini)
  • full keyboard/mouse control support via popup menu
  • user access to directshow filter properties
  • OSD/subtitle font selection
  • drag & drop
  • editable playlist (loop selectable) (random play)
  • integrated multiple audio stream selection (not in dvd player mode)
  • audio stream only (skip video)
  • video stream only (skip audio)
  • audio extraction (not in dvd player mode) pcm to wav (pcm, mp3, ac3, ...), mp3 to mp3 and pcm to mp3
  • audio/video transcoding (not in dvd player mode) from .avi to .ogg (with pcm audio to vorbis audio)
  • vob (mpeg2/ac3) play
  • AVI and OGG file information
  • Bookmarks on DVD and also media files (position, volume, zoom, etc ...)
  • executable compressed with UPX -> under 300 KBytes executable


    Notes:
  • Audio extraction (as .wav and as .mp3) needs two Microsoft DirectShow filters
    (DirectX SDK samples) (dump.ax "Dump" and wavdest.ax "WAV Dest")
    registered on the system.
  • DVD playing needs MPEG 2 Video / Audio decoder(s) DirectShow filter(s)
    registered on the system.

  • directx (8 or better recommended, needed to play DVDs)
