How to set up and use the Toshiba Bluetooth stack VoIP add-on together with Skype?

Toshiba Bluetooth Driver

  • Toshiba Bluetooth Driver 4.00.36(T) Windows 2000/XP
  • Bluetooth HID port from TOSHIBA

  • Bluetooth ACPI from TOSHIBA
  • Bluetooth Voice Device (WDM) from TOSHIBA

  • Configure Skype

    1. Launch Skype "setup.exe". Installation will start. Choose your language and accept the End User License Agreement by checking number "2". Click "Install" to start the Installation.

    2. Installation starts

    3. After Skype finished the installation the "Welcome to Skype" Window appears. Log in with your username and password. In this case the test account is "bt-test-pd".

    4. After you logged on successfully, you will see the contact window and your status is "Online".

    Setup the Bluetooth Headset connection

    1. Start the Bluetooth Manager by clicking the Bluetooth symbol in the tasktray . Check "Custom Mode" and click "Next".

    2. A device discovery will be performed. Choose your Headset and click "Next".

    3. The next screenshot shows the available Bluetooth Profiles. First you need to setup a A2DP connection. Select "Audio Sink" and click "Next". (Please note that the following procedure only works with Handsfree profile and not with the Headset profile).

    4. Now the Passkey is required. For your headset's passkey please refer to its user manual. After you entered the correct Passkey click "Ok".

    5. The Headset connection will be set up.

    6. After the successful setup process you can see the icon for the A2DP headset connection in the "Bluetooth Settings" window. Right-click the connection and choose "Disconnect" in the pop-up menu.

    7. Headset is disconnected.

    8. After that the Handsfree profile of your headset needs to be set up. Therefore start again the Bluetooth Manager by clicking the Bluetooth symbol in the traybar or choosing "Add new connection..." in the "Bluetooth" menu of the "Bluetooth Settings" window. Then choose "Custom Mode" and click "Next".

    9. A device discovery will be performed. Choose your Headset and click "Next".

    10. The next screenshot shows the available Bluetooth Profiles. Select "Handsfree" and click "Next".

    11. The Headset "Handsfree" connection will be set up.

    12. To use your Headset with Skype the option "It uses it in cooperation with the VoIP application" should be checked. Now click "Next".

    13. Now you can change a name for the connection. Click "Next".

    14. The connection setup will be completed. To finalize the setup process click "Finish".

    15. In the "Bluetooth Settings" window right-click the Handsfree connection. Choose "Disconnect" in the pop-up menu.

    16. After the successful setup process you can see the icon for the A2DP and headset connection in the "Bluetooth Settings" window.

    17. To use the "Toshiba Bluetooth VoIP" application you have to register it with Skype. Open the Skype main window to register the tool. The event logger (red flag) shows one new event. Click on the event logger and choose "Plug-in authorization".

    18. Check "Allow this program to use Skype" and click "Ok". The "Toshiba Bluetooth VoIP" application is now ready to use.

    User scenario "Toshiba Bluetooth VoIP" application

    1. Start the "Bluetooth Settings" by clicking the Bluetooth symbol in the traybar

    2. Right-Click your A2DP connection and choose "Connect" in the pop-up menu.

    3. Your Headset is now via A2DP profile connected. Start now to playback any music file and listen to the music.

    4. An incoming Skype call is signalized by a ringtone in your headset. The music automatically mutes. Click the green "Answer" button to answer the call.

    5. The HFP profile will be automatically connected. Now you can make your Skype call. After you end the call the music playback is audible again. Both profiles HFP and A2DP stay connected.

    6. After you ended the call the HFP profile stays connected. The sound of the played music file is audible again via A2DP profile.
