When you use a Brother MFC 7100 series printer with your Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, the printer does not work after you upgrade the computer to Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
when you attempt to install the drivers for this printer on an existing Windows 2000 Professional-based computer, you receive the following error messages and the installation process stops:
- File replacement was attempted on the protected system file SERIAL.SYS. This file needs to be restored to the original version to maintain system stability. Click OK to continue.
- File replacement was attempted on the protected system file SERIAL.SYS. This file needs to be restored to the original version to maintain system stability. Click OK to continue.
When you click OK after each message, the Setup program stops responding (hangs) and you must use Task Manager to quit the Setup process.
To resolve this issue, contact Brother Industries, Ltd. to find out whether an updated driver is available.
