While working with Control Panel or Display properties, you may receive the following error if using the Chips & Technologies
video driver in conjunction with a
Toshiba TECRA laptop.
The cause

The solution
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).
- Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
- Locate the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \ControlsFolder\Display\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\ChipsDSP NOTE: The above registry key is one path; it has been wrapped for readability.
- Delete the ChipsDSP key from the above path.
- Quit Registry Editor.
- Reinstall the Chips & Technologies video driver and configure the resolution properties.
Note: The reapplication of any
Windows NT service pack may disable the Chips & Technologies
video driver, causing for the driver to be reinstalled.
