Mafia II, a third-person action-adventure video game, has been launched in August 2010. It defeated "Kane & Lynch Dog Days" and topped UK games chart for third consecutive week. Mafia II set in a city called Empire Bay in the 1940s and 1950s is a new gangster game made by 2K Czech.

Mafia II plays out like a classic gangster movie. Players are shoved into the shoes of Vito Scaletta, a young guy who was born in Italy in 1925 but moved to Empire Bay. He returns from the WWII to find his mother and sister sick and debt-ridden. Soon Vito realises that being part of the Mafia is the way to make big money and he dreams of becoming a "made man". The stunning backdrops are a real visual treat as you guide Vito around the delightful but deadly mean streets.

Mafia II is the first game to support NVIDIA APEX Clothing with which the clothes in the heros display different effect with their moves. The Mafia II for PC uses the Illusion engine and supports NVIDIA PhysX and 3D. The combination of PhysX and NVIDIA APEX makes the heros lifelike. Mafia II has very amazing original music such as the cradits theme, game over theme, game pause theme and the title menu theme.

If you have played Mafia II, you would notice that driving is what you would be doing most. The game's old cars - many of which are 4000 pound monsters - are sluggish but still enjoyable to drive. However, you should know that speeding, picking locked doors, and bashing into other vehicles will cause any nearby police officers to give chase. If it's anything more than a fineable offence, they won't forget who you are until you either don new duds or swap your car's plates. Your best bet for trouble-free trips is to turn on the speed limiter and drive safely.

Two Mafia II DLCs have been announced recently. The first, titled "The Betrayal of Jimmy" was announced on 15 June 2010. In "The Betrayal of Jimmy", the player controls Jimmy and unlocks new city-based challenges ranging from assassinations to timed vehicle based missions that include shootouts, car chases, and explosions. In the " Jimmy's Vendetta", the player controls Jimmy and helps him clean up messes around Empire Bay as he seeks vengeance on the people who sold him out and got him put in prison.

In the tradition of most open world, sandbox-style games, Mafia II will have you explore the city of Empire Bay from the docks, to the affluent neighborhoods in the hills above the city, as Vito progresses from a lowly grunt, hustling to earn money for his family, to a made man on the rise.
