Important facts about Privacy Guard features |
| Scramble files and folders properties in Privacy Guard |
| This option will scramble file names that may contain sensitive information about your activity. It is recommended if you have viewed explicit content or are accessing files that have been named in such a way as to indicate their content. |
| For advanced security reasons, you have the possibility to select this option, however the overall performance of the computer will be slowed down during the wiping process as the disk space will temporarily fall to zero bytes. |
| Sometimes Windows will warn you that you are running out of disk space on the drive where CyberScrub Privacy Suite is scrambling the file properties. You should ignore this error, because CyberScrub Privacy Suite will free up the disk space after it finishes wiping. |
| As Microsoft documents, Windows automatically removes the Restore Points from your computer when the free space falls below 50 MB on any drives. This happens in Windows Me/NT/2000/XP. As a consequence, because the scrambling of file properties (name, date, size, etc.) means the temporary reduction of the free disk space to zero bytes, the Restore Points will be removed from your system.
To prevent this occurrence, please select the Protect my Restore Points option from:
Erase>Erase Options>Preferences, see more |

| Cookies to protect |
| Cookies are a major privacy concern, and can be used to gather valuable information about your habits or interests. The Privacy Guard feature protects your privacy by deleting these cookies. However you may wish to retain specific cookies for convenience. |
| To protect specific cookies open the Privacy Guard and in the Browsers section select any of the browsers installed on your computer, click the Properties button and in the window that appears select Protect Cookies, then check the cookies you want to protect. |
|
| Windows and Internet Explorer "Locked" files |
| After running the Privacy Guard you will be prompted to restart your computer. This step is necessary to delete certain "locked" Windows files. These are files that are used by Windows or by Internet Explorer and can only be erased as Windows starts. One of these files may be the Windows swap file, a file that may contain sensitive information collected without your knowledge or approval. The Internet Explorer history or cookies index files are also "locked" while Windows is running. |

| Not found application warning |
| In the Application Sensitive Areas section there is a list containing all the available applications you may select. If you want to check an application not installed on your computer, a warning message will appear prompting you that application does not exist on your PC. Not installed applications will appear "grayed out" in the list |
