Question:
When I try to view my Cam on HTTP using the "Proxy Test" button I can only see the static cam pages, the live feed fails. Also There is a banner over my Cam page which is quite annoying.
Answer:
If the proxy test is showing a cam screen, then your HTTP server is all working fine. The proxy test uses a proxy browser so that it simulates a remote browser accessing your CAM Wizard HTTP server. The banner overlay is there because the proxy browser is a free service offered by a third party. The live JPEG stream doesn't tend to work on the proxy test because of reduced bandwidth on the free service caused by lots of people using.
The correct way to use your camwiz HTTP server is not with the proxy test, that's just for testing when setting up. The correct way to use the server is by entering your permanent URL into a remote machine that sits elsewhere on the internet, for example you may wander into an internet cafe when you're abroad on holiday to check out your home, or you may check on your home from a work PC etc.
When using like this you need to type your permanent URL into the browsers address bar, you will end up getting connected directly (not via a proxy) to your PC running CAM Wizard, and then the live feed should work flawelessly provided your Cam Wizard PC has a good internet connection ( >= 128 kbaud ), so broadband, midband or ISDN is just fine. |
