    Windows Media Services 2008 for Windows Server 2008 RC1 is an optional supplement to Windows Server 2008 RC1. In Windows Server 2008 RC1, the Streaming Media Services role (which includes the latest version of Windows Media Services) and remote administration tools are not included in Server Manager. To obtain the new features and tools available in Windows Media Services for Windows Server 2008 RC1, such as the built-in WMS Cache/Proxy plug-in, you must obtain and run the appropriate Streaming Media Services role installer file on the updated platform.

    These Microsoft Update Standalone Package (MSU) files install either 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) versions (as noted in the file names) of:
  • Windows Media Services and the rest of the Streaming Media Services role in Server Manager, on "full" installations of Standard and Enterprise editions of

    Utilities and SDK for Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Microsoft Windows Vista RTM/Windows Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008 RC1

    Utilities and SDK for UNIX-Based Applications is an add-on to the Subsystem for UNIX-Based Applications (referred to as SUA, hence forth) component that shipped in Microsoft Windows Vista / Windows Server2008 RC1.

    This consists of the following components:

    This release enables 64-bit application development for SUA. development and porting of custom UNIX applications using the Windows OCI (Oracle Call Interface) and Windows ODBC libraries (collectively referred to as 'Mixed Mode' in the rest of the document).

    Note:
  • The installation packages are different for Windows Vista and Windows Server2008 RC1.
  • Windows Vista users should download either 'Utilities and SDK for UNIX-based Applications_X86.exe' or 'Utilities and SDK for UNIX-based Applications_X64.exe'.
  • Windows Vista SP1 RC1 and Windows Server2008 RC1 users should download only the packages whose names end with 'RC1'.

    Windows Server 2008 Release Candidate 1 Enterprise with Hyper-V Beta

    This time-limited release of Windows Server 2008 Release Candidate will expire on June 30, 2008. After this time, you will need to uninstall the software or upgrade to a later release or a fully-licensed version of Windows Server 2008.
