• Version control; all source versions are kept in the repository. Check out and check in is managed through a separate connection based on the user's database login.
• Storing and updating of dictionary information is accomplished using stored procedures, which you can customize to add extra checking or other features.
• Triggers (again customizable) can log all activity on source objects.
• Both parameters (input to procedures) and result sets (output from procedures) can be defined in the dictionary, and are searchable. SpEd can generate PowerBuilder non-visual objects to access the stored procedures.
• The dictionary also stores other structured information about each source object: name, version, database version, search keys, description, last changed by, created by, requested by, responsible programmer.
• Functions to fast compile multiple procedures into a database, or extract source to files, with advanced predefined search criteria or a user-defined customized select from the dictionary.
• Export / Import functions (with extensive version control) for moving/copying source objects between repositories on different servers, for example between laptops and central development servers.
