PDFSecure - add, remove, or change security settings on existing PDF documents or whole directories of documents PDFTron\'s PDFSecure is a stand-alone program and a software component which can be used to add, remove, or change security settings on existing PDF documents or whole directories of documents. PDFSecure can also be used to modify document information metadata and to web-optimize PDF documents through a process known as linearization.
PDFSecure is offered as a command-line application, and as a library component that can be used as a building block for other client and server-based applications.

Here are some key features of "PDFSecure":

  • Encrypt any PDF document or whole directories of documents using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption and Crypt filters. AES and Crypt filters are a new feature in PDF 1.6 (Acrobat 7).
  • Encrypt any PDF document using standard PDF 40 and 128 RC4 bit encryption.
  • Modify security settings (for example, change passwords or security permissions).
  • Completely remove security from existing documents.
  • Set of modify document information metadata such as Author, Subject, Title, Keywords, etc. to all processed documents.
  • Linearize and optimize existing PDF documents for \'Fast Web View\' capability and faster downloading.
  • Custom security handlers can be added through an extension mechanism. If you are not satisfied with standard PDF security, a custom security handler can be quickly developed through an easy to use API.
  • PDFSecure SDK is based on PDFNet SDK, making it extremely efficient.
  • Because of built-in support for multi-threading, PDFSecure SDK is a good match for server-based applications.
