FairStars Recorder, by FairStars Soft is a full-featured program for recording audio. In testing it out I recorded audio from a microphone plugged into my PC and also directly from my sound card. The recording quality was very good from both. The program also supports a nice range of audio formats including MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, APE, and more.
FairStars Recorder has a number of configurable options so you have control over the things your record. I always like having options. The program is both intuitive and easy-to-use, perfect for both new and experienced users. In fact, if you aren't real confident the program even comes with a "wizard" to help you out. If you want you can have scheduled recordings and you can impose limits on file size so they don't get too large.
Another cool feature is the ability to monitor for periods of silence, which many similar programs can't do. Slick. FairStars Recorder can help you to filter out extraneous noises with its filters which is a nice option to have. There's also support for editing of ID3 tags and you can import and view them as well. I was impressed with what a nice job FairStars Recorder did on every project I tried it on.
So, if you're looking for a nice program for recording audio take a good look at FairStars Recorder. It may be just the solution you need.
