CATVids, by FNProgramvare is a really cool tool getting your DVD collection into a catalog. The program has a wide range of data fields so you can catalog just about anything with it. The program will automatically grab DVD information off the Internet for discs you've purchased.I liked the fact that the program lets you put in your own custom fields which can often be handy. Some of the standard fields available include things like title, publisher, release year, price, purchase date, director, and even keywords. Plus, you can change the field names and even hide fields you don't want to use. What a cool feature. Nicely done. CATVids will let you put in lots of other information as well including things like recording speed, recording date, and even a summary of the movie or film. In testing it out I found it to be easy-to-use and perfect for users with all levels of experience..
CATVids has a powerful search function so you can easily find the DVD you're looking for. Another thing CATVids can do is create reports for you and it comes with over 100 pre-defined reports you can use. If you like you can save your reports in a variety of file formats including RTF, HTML, JPG, Excel, and more.
Another feature I really like is the ability to keep track of discs you loan out to friends and family. So, if you loan a couple of DVDs to Cousin Bill, you'll have a record of it on file. If all this weren't enough CATVids also comes with a built-in backup and restore option that will keep all your data safe. So, if you've got a lot of media you'd like to catalog and track, this is your solution. Give it a try.
