Should I use Norman Ad-Aware plus or professional?
We recommend that everyday home users download the Norman Ad-Aware Plus version, Corporate users may find the Norman Ad-Aware pro version more useful as it offers some additional features. You can compare the features of the two products here:
What is the difference between Norman Ad-Aware Plus and Pro?
The products are very similar and share the same type of interface, however the Professional has some additional features that are useful for corporate, network and advanced users.
The common components for Norman Ad-aware Plus and Pro are:
Real-time Protection with Ad-Watch
On-Demand scan
Pop-up blocker
Internet update of definition files
Rules creator for predefined blocking exclusions
Code Sequence Identification technology
The additional components for Pro are:

How to
install Norman Ad-Aware?
Double click the setup file of Norman Ad-Aware, which you have downloaded. It
will be named:
Norman_Ad-Aware_plus_Rxxx.exe for the plus version with build number xxx
Norman_Ad-Aware_pro_Rxxx.exe for the professional version with build number xxx
After confirming the license agreement the installation routine will look for previously installed versions of Ad-Aware on your system and will remove them upon your confirmation (recommended).
Install Norman Ad-Aware into the proposed directory.
If there are several users on your computer you can choose to install it for all users or just for yourself.
After the installation you have new shortcuts in your start menu and on your desktop to start Norman Ad-Aware.
It is recommended that you download the latest signature files and run a full system scan when you have completed the Norman Ad-Aware installation. This will enable you to scan for infected objects and remove them. This procedure is explained later on in this guide.
How do I download the latest update?
Double click the Norman Ad-Aware icon on your desktop to launch the program, this
will allow you to access the various features within Norman Ad-Aware and configure
it to suit your own needs.
Located at the top of the Norman Ad-Aware window are 5 icons;
Ad-aware SE status
General settings
Quarantined Objects
Web update
About Ad-Aware
Select the 4th icon along and a new window will appear.
Select Configure to set up your connection.
Note: If you have a firewall you should allow the following connection to the internet to allow the program to download updates:
Norman Ad-Aware Plus:
C:\Program Files\Norman\Norman Ad-Aware SE Plus\Ad-aware.exe
Norman Ad-Aware Pro:
C:\Program Files\Norman\Norman Ad-Aware SE Professional\Ad-aware.exe
For the average user the default settings should be OK, if you use a proxy click on the Use HTTP Proxy button to enable it (it will turn green) and enter your proxy address and port.
(Note for home users: If you are not sure about proxy settings leave it set to the default configuration and try the update, if it works then you are OK, if it does not work contact your ISP for more information.)
When you have completed the Proxy settings make sure you are connected to the Internet and click on the start button to download the latest components.
Any new components will now be downloaded; this may take a few minutes depending on your connection speed.
If no update is available click Finish.
